Weather in NukusA biography and works of Amet Shamuratov
The field of literature can be imagined as a big stage. Every actor is an author, straining to deliver the best performance to its audience, the future generation. In this sense, every creative person on this stage tries to leave behind valuable works for the future generation to enjoy and treasure.
One such man who believed in this was Amet Shamuratov, a prominent Karakalpak representative of literature in the 1950s. Born in 1912 in the territory of Kalinin, a collective farm in the Khodzheily district, Amet truly came from humble beginnings. He was the son of poor farmers, who both passed away when he was young. As an orphan living with extended relatives, Amet began his studies in an old Muslim school. In 1926, he continued on to the ‘Kommuna' school in the Chimbay district until 1930, where he then delved deeper into his studies at the Kazakh school of Orenburg (present Russia).
Amet began his career as an elementary school teacher, working his way up to a district inspector and finally, a valued secretary member of Khozheliy district's executive committee. However, studies were never too far away for a man with a love for learning. In 1932, Amet entered Rabfak School at Moscow Veterinary Institute, where he studied for the next four years, cultivating the spark that would connect him to the creative sphere for the rest of his life.
